Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) take effect July 2014

Have you heard? The NEW Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) will take effect in July of 2014.

What this means to you
As a legitimate list owner, you MUST make sure you only send email to those who have expressed consent. The consent must be affirmative. This means that all pre-checked boxes are NOT allowed in any registration or subscription pages and/or forms.

The burden of proof lies with the sender so make sure you log and keep all subscriptions and signup information like IP address, date/time stamp, URL of the signup page.

You must identify yourself and any third party involved in the transmission of the message. As an Email Service Provider (ESP) like Xoopa, you would not need to identify us in your mailings. We simply supply a service for our customers to self-manage and maintain their own email campaigns and mailing lists.

More to come..
